ELEMENTARY ORCHESTRA RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

Things are a little different this school year, but the Elementary Orchestra program is moving forward!  For over 41 years, the Cumberland County Schools’ String Orchestra program has provided orchestra instruction to thousands of young musicians.  We invite you to consider your child’s participation in this exciting music program. Starting at the fifth grade level, orchestra instruction in violin, viola, and cello is offered twice weekly during the school day.  Our elementary orchestra recruitment plan is as follows:

September 21 – 25, 2020 – Elementary “Virtual” School Visits

During this week, our orchestra teacher will “virtually visit” all 5th grade classrooms throughout Cumberland County Schools.  They will explain  what is like being a part of the orchestra program and learning to play a string instrument.  They will show a video about the orchestra program that features demonstrations of each instrument and an ensemble of our own Orchestra teachers playing in a quintet.

After the virtual visit, principals will share with parents a link to the Parent Orchestra Registration Letter.  If you decide to take advantage of this educational opportunity, please fill out the google form by Friday, September 25, 2020.
